Giving Tuesday is people-powered participatory philanthropy--it represents a coming together around shared values, and it is a day that turns individual gifts into community led impact. At the heart of this day of radical generosity is building a community that is passionate about positive change.
This year, the Friends of the Danbury Museum are launching an important campaign for Giving Tuesday. The Danbury Museum holds multiple collections that are of local/national/international import, but two of our most used collections are pieces pertaining to Marian Anderson, the Black contralto who called Danbury home for nearly 50 years, and that of documents, footage, and artifacts from the Great Danbury State Fair.
On Giving Tuesday, a day dedicated to sparking waves of kindness and change, the Friends of the Danbury Museum hope to raise $3500 to begin a digitization project that will preserve 7 large reel-to-reel tapes of Marian Anderson singing and performing. If we raise enough funds, we will also begin digitizing more than 50 Betacam tapes of Danbury Fair footage, making them available for viewing on the museum's YouTube channel.
Donations made this Giving Tuesday--using your generosity coupled with that of so many others--can make a tremendous impact on the Danbury Museum's ability to digitize and make more accessible these important audio and visual artifacts. No amount is too small and we thank you for considering the Friends of the Danbury Museum for your year end donations.

Your support and donations will help the Danbury Museum to preserve and digitize 7 reel-to-reel tapes of Marian Anderson singing and performing. If we raise enough funds, we will also be able to begin to digitize and preserve more than 50 rolls of Betacam footage of the Great Danbury State Fair.
